Penstemon eatonii has rounded green leaves that remain green through the winter.  In spring, it flowers on stalks that reach 2 ft. in height.  It needs perfect drainage and some water in spring and fall.  Give the plant a couple of indirect summer waterings if you need to have the plant stay evergreen in late summer.  Firecracker Penstemon will tolerate almost full shade and daily watering.
